Headshot Photography Advice by Marc Cartwright

HEADSHOT PHOTOGRAPHY ADVICE

An actor’s headshot can look pretty and have perfect lighting, but it is not an effective headshot if it doesn’t tell a story.  More important than anything, is how engaging, marketable and relatable an actor comes across in their headshot. Having a pretty shot of yourself looking like a deer caught in headlights is not going to help you compete as an actor (unless you are auditioning for a Christmas show, playing one of Santa’s Reindeer).

I believe that knowing how to direct an actor during a headshot session, to help reveal their personality and marketability, is the most important skill that a professional headshot photographer should possess.
